Goodbye, belt. Hello door pull

Goodbye, Linea Pelle belt. I ordered you from Barney's ages ago. You didn't fit right, so I never wore you.

It's a total shame to have something as beautiful as you to be neglected, so I had Sunshine cut you. I had him spare your interesting ends and take the rest to our house build to make a pull for the back side of the sliding barn door.

It hurt to cut you, yet it comforted me to know that you would be used in my new forever home. Thank you for your non-traditional service to us; now let's hope I can find the perfect DIY project to use and enjoy the rest of you.

Love your make do and mend attitude and you have one unique door pull!

What a great idea! And can’t wait to see what you do with the rest of it.

That's genius!  I think it was always meant to be a door pull.

Oh, what a great repurposing of an unworn item!

I have some old coats of my mom’s that I keep thinking would be great for fabric to make throw pillows. Maybe a project I’ll get to this year...

    That's awesome Cindy.

Janet, I'm repurposing some suede pants into throw pillows. They had straight legs, and I cut off the legs. Just gotta sew them up at the ends after I stuff them

Good spirit, Cindy!  How's the house doing?  Please tell me there will be some kind of celebratory post when it's ready for occupancy!  :-)  I'm excited for you!  Did I share with you that my brother has been researching and strategizing about building his own straw bale home?  I think he'll do it.  He has a good plan.  He and his fiancee have been looking for a property that meets their needs.

Emily, I will definitely be posting pics in off-topic when the house is finished. Give my good luck wishes to your brother!

This is a good use of your old belt. Somewhere I saw leather pulls on drawers before.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

So creative. I can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the belt.

    Ode To Linea Pelle
There once was a belt named Linea Pelle,
Which, as a belt, was just swell,
But, she got cut and reassigned
    As a door pull, redesigned
Now the barn door sports half of Linea Pelle

Excellent repurposing! Have you thought of using the buckle as a key fob?

  • cindysmith replied 6 years ago

Ooh, aproprio I like the way you think!

Joy, I hurt my face smiling at that rhyme

Great idea!  I've done similar projects, and they are so satisfying. Maybe make a bracelet from the rest?

I love your updates!   I hope you'll keep writing these!

    La Belle,
Considering how fast I churn through clothes (rural homesteading is a clothing shredder), there will be an endless supply of these LOL

The piece in the first photo could be a great looking pendant.
